Drought in Botswana - wildlife need our help

Animal Survival International (ASI) have emailed about an urgent situation in Botswana.   They say that animals are dying in the worst drought in 40 years.   And there’s a way to help – to fill two crucial waterholes.

Critical water sources are essential for wildlife, especially as Botswana has been ravaged by drought.  ASI’s supporters are helping to provide these critical water sources, which means many animals are saved from dehydration and death.

But ASI have found that animals are dying on the banks of two waterholes which have run dry ... and some are getting trapped in the mud as they seek water to drink.

There is a solution.... water pump installation - and fast.

Please help solve the problem

Help is needed inside the Makgadikgadi National Park (north east Botswana) and also in the Motopi region.

ASI needs to raise about £5,000 ($6,500) to install solar-powered water pumps in both places and then water can flow quickly to thirsty elephants, zebras and other wild animals.

It has provided a water supply to animals in the Khumaga region of the Makgadikgai National Park, which spans 2,423 miles – many animals live here.   Waterholes are essential so that more animals don’t succumb to dehydration
