Don’t miss this! Brian May: The Badgers, The Farmers and Me
On Friday 23rd August at 9pm on BBC2, there’s a programme called Brian May: The Badgers, The Farmers and Me. May’s passion for our wildlife and his scientific background, along with his career as one of the greatest guitarists of all times, have all combined to put him in a wonderful position to give wild animals a voice.
Sir Brian May and Anne Brummer (whose Harper Asprey Wildlife Rescue and hospital gives hundreds of wild animals the chance for a new life in the wild) established the Save Me Trust to campaign against the possible repeal of the UK’s Hunting Act. Working to end fox hunting is one of Save Me’s main aims, and it collaborates with experts and works to find effective solutions, based on science and common sense.
The Save Me Campaigns are:
- Amending the Hunting Act
- Stopping the Badger Cull
- Saving Britain’s Hedgehogs
- Wildlife and Construction
- Protecting Wildlife Habitats
In coalition, it is actively against: Factory Farming, Live Export, Trophy Hunting, Driven Grouse, The Use of Snares and Captive Orcas and Cetaceans
The programme on BBC2 follows May’s journey from being interested in it all to being obsessed – his scientific background helped him design and experiment that would question the link between badgers and the spread of TB in cattle. Badgers have been accused of spreading bovine TB in cattle and thousands of badgers have been culled - but is a cull effective? Find out more from the Save Me Trust, and be a part of Team Badger to speak out against the cull.
